Our History

HISTORY FROM THE BEGINING

Krieger Dobermanns is a well-established kennel from Largs on the west coast of Scotland, founded by my dad John McILroy & now owned in conjunction with My dad, myself Penny McILroy-Stracey and both my daughters Louise  & Rebecca. 

We bought our first Dobermann 'Kissy' [Zytan Ajamais] from Jim & Liz Templeton in 1980, tragically at 7 months old Kissy died from leptospirosis, even though she had been inoculated. We went back to the same breeders and bought Farrah- [Zytan Sand Gold] who was a brown and rust bitch. This was our foundation from which all our stock descends. Farah’s pedigree was a combination of Mat Greerson kennel [Rioghal] & Margaret Bastable's import [German Champion Greif Von Hagenstern] on the dam’s side. On the sire’s side was Peter Clark's famous [Clanguard] kennel. Having European breeding in Farah’s pedigree we decided on a European import as a stud dog for her - [ Ibsen Jingo Von Ferrolheim ] owned by Stan MacDonald [Von Mac affix] this resulted in a litter of 8 puppies of which we kept 2 - Tanya [Reintraud Entchlossen] & Cesar [Deinhard Krieger].

Our affix was first registered by the Kennel Club in the early 80's after Cesar [Deinhard Krieger] won his stud book number which earned us the right to own an affix. As a tribute to this beautiful dog our affix could be nothing less than 'Krieger' since then we have bred multiple stud book qualifiers, junior warrant titles and 7 UK Dobermann Champions - .Ch Krieger Rhythm 'n' Blues; Ch Krieger Sure Shot JW & his litter brother Ch Krieger Storm JW [both sons of Ch Tavey's Uproar of Davway] ; Ch Krieger Endless Love JW -"Crufts Champion"; Ch Krieger Endurance, Ch Krieger’s The Wizard Of Oz JW & most recently 2021 Lyles son Ch Krieger’s Foul Play.

In 2005 our first Miniature Pinscher Roxy - Minimanns Cream of Ulster came into our lives from Colin and Wilma Johnston. We decided to get a second breed as Beccah was too little to show our Dobermanns, the min pin seemed the perfect choice after a lot of research. Beccah had fairly good success with Roxy gaining her stud book number and wining many junior handling competitions, 2008 we decided to mate Roxy with a lot of advice from the lovey welcoming min pin people, we decided to use Ch Bellpins Wear the Fox Hat at Dimogen owned by Di & Dave Gentle. From our foundation litter we have used various dogs from round the world in our breeding program , to date we have bred 7 UK Miniature Pinscher Champions.

My husband Richard and I live in seaside town of Largs along with our 2 daughters Louise & Rebecca . We also share our house with 4 Dobermann's & 7 Miniature Pinscher's. All our dogs are first and foremost much-loved family pets living within our home and are not kennelled, this to us is a testament to the temperament of our dogs as normally they all live together in harmony. As a hobby we show our dogs successfully with most judges appreciating the conformation type and temperament of the dogs.
